We booked a meal here and it was lovely. We had one problem was finding this. At no negatives towards here but when we put on our satnav we thought to write in Hardwick hotel. There is a sister company we found out when we arrived at the wrong venue. The staff tell me this happens often. Please can a small not be added to the site. There is plenty of parking and an overspill carport too as it can get busy as its also an outdoor venue for famous artists music. Our food was fabulous. It is worth staying or booking the restaurant. All staff are trained to a high standard so nothing is too much for them. The building itself is fabulous. We went first to a small room in the bar. It is decorated in the old style and has a lovely feel to it too. Well done all you hard working staff. Although we didn't stay, we heard many positive comments from customers.

Very lovely place to stay.Nice a peaceful surroundings. Was nice to be woken by soft wood pigeon sounds. Breakfast was AMAZING.Probably the best English breakfast I have had (vegetarian option). Vegan option also available. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Especially polite at breakfast. Felt very well taken care of. Rooms with very aesthetic feel. Bed was nice and cosy too. Nice view from the window. Very well stocked coffee and tea station in the room. Definitely would recommend to stay there. Thank you

Room's tired and dated but you've got to expect that for a 600yr old building. Staff all very very friendly. We had a carvery - exceptional and great value!! Cooked breakfasts also very good with ample options. Carpark shared with a car selling business of which the surface is horrendous, in desperate need of tidying up, segregating and relaying. All in all a nice hotel and served our purpose for a visit to the area.

This is the best place to go for a midweek carvery, fresh meat, fresh vegetables, lovely gravy,a nice range of deserts, but normally don't have room. £8-95 for a small plate,£10-95 for a standard, you will not get better value and quality combined. Excellent service. Nice east Durham welcome.Forget the Toby go here instead.

Stayed in a four poster room which was fantastic. There was also a leather sofa and coffee table in the room along with tea and coffee making facilities. The bed is either a king or super king and very comfortable. Everything is spotlessly clean, including the en-suit bathroom. The staff are wonderful, helpful and cheerful, going out of their way to help guests. Ate the two course meal on the first night, best meal I've had in a long time. Would highly recommend this hotel and planning on going back again.

Lovely surroundings & gardens at the front with plenty of outdoor tables & parasols along with an outdoor bar. We were seated in the small dining room for our 3 course table d'hote menu. Food served hot & tasty. Pleasant staff serving. Car park overly crowded at the back with 2nd hand car sales vehicles.
